4. Description Abstract

Abstract:Jenepontois one distric that is located in the eastern part of South Sulawesi, is divided into two
distinct topographic reliefs. The southern region is an area of sea with low rainfall, so the population
livelihood as farmers salt.To open the salt ponds, it takes over the function of mangrove forest lan d
resulting in the coastal area have no barrier to hold back the waves so that the coastal areas experiencing
abrasion. Based on the results of interviews with community leaders and farmers, data showed that upto
now there has been no extension of the marine department or city zoning office about the importance of
mangroves to the environment.Therefore,the necessary awareness to the public,that began education to
students who are candidates for reformers about the importance of preserving the the mangroves. In
addition, the extension to the farmers on the need for reforestation back to the problem of coastal  erosion
can be minimized.
