MODEL DALAM PEMBELAJARAN MATEMATIKA REALISTIK

Abstract


Problem situations, mathematical ideas and concepts require a variety of ways to be represented orally or in writing. Since mathematical concepts are abstract, certain ways are required to represent  the concepts or situations by using models  so that the abstract aspects could be identified and grasped by those who learn mathematics. It is realized that mental ability of elementary school students to think mathematicaly, in general, are still at concrete level. Hence, certain efforts are required to guide these students  to understand abstract mathematical concepts. Therefore, mathematical models of a problem situation used by teachers or students  in teaching should go through certain transition level of models and should be taken into account.
