PELESTARIAN EKOSISTEM TERUMBU KARANG GILI MATRA MELALUI PENDIDIKAN LOKAL BERBASIS LINGKUNGAN

Abstract

Abstract: Marine Natural Park Gili Matra is one of the Marine Protected Area (MPA) that is known for its natural beauty underwater. Area management efforts was implemented through the establishment of community-based awig awig (local law), while the improvement of coral reef rehabilitation was done in situ using Biorock technology. Approach through education in Gili Matra coral reef management efforts is necessary. This approach can be pursued through the development of local content-based subjects  applied in the school environment that are the local hallmarks of Gili Matra as “biodiversity of coral reefs.” Students’ understanding about coral reef biodiversity is expected to raise awareness about the importance of coral reefs and how to manage it.
