Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of this study was: (1) to determine the effect of learning strategies and academic ability on critical thinking skills , metacognitive skills , and cognitive abilities in biology, and (2) to determine the effect of the interaction between learning strategies and academic ability on critical thinking skills , metacognitive skills , and cognitive abilities in biology. This study was conducted with a quasi-experimental design in early March to early June 2007. Data analysis was performed with the Anacova statistic. The result of stuty was: Cooperative Script strategy is better than Multi Model strategy in its relation with critical thinking skills. Cooperative Script strategy is no better than Multi Model strategy in its relation with metacognitive skills. Cooperative Script is no better than Multi Model strategy on Excretion System lesson, but better on the Reproductive System lesson.
