Abstract


Abstract: Bryopsida or mosses is one of diversities which takes an important role in human life. In forest areas, mosses take an important role to absorb water, so they can avoid erosion and flood and their function as oxygen supplier. This research aimed to know the diversity of various mosses at Tahura R. Soeryo and also the diverse characteristic used to identify mosses. This research was conducted from September to November 2008. This research used a survey method of a free random approach. The result of the research showed that there are 15 species of mosses which belong to sub class Bryidae. The identification is based on either sporophyte structures or gametophyte especially leaf morphology and anatomy cha­racteristics. Mosses have an important role in human life to preserve and provide their advantages continuously.
