KERUSAKAN DANAU LIMBOTO DAN UPAYA KONSERVASI MELALUI PEMBERDAYAAN MASYARAKAT DAN PERAN PERGURUAN TINGGI

Abstract

Abstract: Limboto Lake at Gorontalo had undergone degradation due to sedimentation, eutrophication, pollution and occupation of lake area by the people in 1932 the lake was 7000 Ha as well as had the depth of 30 m. In 2002 the lake was only 3.000 Ha in 2 m depth of wet season and in 1,5 m depth at dry season. During 1972-2002 the depreciation rate was 50 ha/yr, as well as the sedimentation rate from 1,5 to 50 cm/yr, as a result of silting up at every wet season. Rain efforts would be done are conservation related to any cause of the silting up. The conservation activities  must be carried out a comprehensively by cooperation of all boards related like local and central governments, local people as well as universities.
