Abstract


This study was aimed at finding out the effect of inquiry and expository approach and student’s attitude on achievements in memorizing and understanding concepts in geography. This was an experimental study using 2x2 factorial design. The subjects of the study were group A and C of second grade students of SLTP Laboratorium State University of Malang. Attitude scales and achievement test were constructed as instruments in this study. A two-way ANOVA was used to analyze the data. The results of the study revealed that the students who were taught by using inquiry approach performed better in achievements than those who were taught by using expository approach. Students with positive attitude performed better in achievements than those with negative one. There was no interaction found between teaching approach and students’ attitude on geography achievements.
