Abstract


A new learning paradigm emphasizes life skills. Using contextual approach in cooperative learning supports the new learning paradigm. This research aims at knowing the effectiveness of contextual approach in cooperative learning toward the communication skill (making a data table and presentation ability) of the students in learning Biology at the second grade of SLTPN 4 Palu. The findings of the research indicate that (1) using contextual approach in cooperative learning with 4E learning cycle model from Martin, et al . is more effective significantly toward the ability of the students in making a tabulation of data in learning Biology at second grade of SLTPN 4 Palu; (2) using contextual approach in cooperative learning with 4E learning cycle from Martin, et al . is more effective significantly toward the ability of the students in conducting presentation in learning Biology at second grade of SLTPN 4 Palu.
