Abstract

The whole language approach attempts to empower teachers and language learners. With this approach, language learners are expected to be involved in language use in real activities. The approach developed based on research finding states that learning a language should be natural. Learning a language, therefore, will be easier if the learner is involved in the real language use activities. Such language learning presents a language unity which cannot be separated into meaningless parts. The research finding shows that learning about language which forces the learners to memorise language rules and view language as separate elements, does not reach the intended aim of language learning.
