Abstract


One of the characteristics of constructivist approach is that learners construct their own knowledge and teachers act as facilitators. The teaching learning process is student-centered rather than teacher-centered. Cooperative learning model of STAD type is a learning model of constructivist approach. The aim of this research is to enhance the quality of teaching learning process and achievement of the 23 students taking Organic Chemistry III at the Chemistry Department of the State University of Malang. This is a classroom action research consisting of two cycles. The researcher acts as the teacher and observer. The findings show that cooperative learning can enhance the learning process as well as the students' achievement.
