Abstract

Life skill and life skill education are an alternative of paradigm and educational orientation which is believed to be able to solve the basic problem of elementary and secondary education, as well as socio-economic problem of Indonesia. Life skill is not the same as link-and-match or vocational skill. Life skill education anticipates and adjusts the policy, program, process, and output of education to the future needs and challenges, educational theories and research findings, and the social, economic, cultural and political changes in education. This shows that life skill is not a new pragmatism in education, but a wider spectrum of educational content.
