PENINGKATAN KETERAMPILAN PROSES BERPIKIR ILMIAH MELALUI MODEL PROBLEM BASED INSTRUCTION (PBI)

Abstract


Abstract: The objectives of this research were 1) to describe the activity of the teachers and students, 2) to describe the activity of the teachers in learning management, 3) to describe the student skills in learning process, 4) to describe the response of the students and teachers of biological responses to the PBI learning model, and 5) to describe the level of the mastery of the study results of the students after applying the PBI learning model on the theory of Diffusion and Osmosis. This research was qualitative research using Classroom Action Research (CAR) method, which consists of four steps, that are 1) preparation of plans, 2) implementation of the action, 3) observation of the action, and 4) reflection on actions implemented. This study consisted of two cycles. Subjects were students of grade XI of SMAN Jekan Raya Palangka Raya in academic year of 2006/2007. Results of this research showed that the dominant activity of the teacher is guiding students doing a discussion (20.8%), while the dominant student activities were listening to the explanation of teachers and other students (28.9%), and discussing between students/groups/teachers (14.95%). Thus, the activity of the teachers and students reflected that the PBI learning model got successful.
