Abstract

Abstract: Banteng (Bos javanicus d`Alton) is naturally distributed throughout Asia. In Indonesia this species can be found in Java, Bali and Kalimantan. Traditionally, this species is used as a cross breeder for Bali cattle which is originated from Bos sondaicus. The current population is small, making it categorized as an endangered species. Protection measures have been implemented in some national parks such as West Bali, Ujung Kulon, Baluran, Alas Purwo, Kutai and Penanjung Pangandaran Nature Reserve. Total area of this National park is about 43420 hectares. Banteng was usually found in Sadengan savannah which has about 20 hectares. Grass samples had been taken by using quadrates of 100 x 100 cm2, with total 100 plots. Observation had been carried out in two locations, i.e: around the tower (location I), nearby and adjacent to the mountaineous (location II). Goal of research is the management of savannah to be carrying capacity support savannah as according to amount of animal. This research concluded that: 1) potential of grasses in Sadengan savannah of Alas Purwo National Pak was very low, 2) grazing area was concentrated in one location, and was related to the biomass of grasses as their food resources.
