Development of Problem-Based Learning Worksheet to Enhance Ecoliteracy: Human Impact on Ecosystem

Abstract


Ecoliteracy (ecological literacy) is an individual's ability to understand basic ecological principles and make environmentally responsible decisions. Improving ecoliteracy is a crucial foundation for realizing Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), which prepares students to become proactive citizens in protecting the environment. The problem-based learning model helps students learn on their own by using real-world environmental cases to get them to think critically and solve problems. Therefore, this research aims to determine the effectiveness of using problem-based learning worksheets to enhance the ecoliteracy of seventh-grade students. The development model used is 4-D. The research instruments include expert validation forms for subject, learning, and design; teacher response questionnaires; student response questionnaires; and pre-test and post-test questions. The products were validated by material experts with a percentage of 87.5%, learning experts with a percentage of 85.57%, and design with a percentage of 79.8%. Student response results were 94.87%, while teacher response results were 96.88%. The student worksheet was able to enhance ecoliteracy with an N-Gain of 0.74 (high). The results of this study will provide empirical evidence regarding the effectiveness of PBL-based student worksheets in improving ecoliteracy. This data will be invaluable as a reference for curriculum developers, teachers, and other researchers in the field of environmental education.
