Abstract


The main objectives of research are to describe the background of state junior high school teachers and the condition of research’s variables, and to identify empirical evidence for the presence or absence of significant direct and indirect relationship between compensation, involvement of teachers in decision-making, school climate as well as job satisfaction and work morale of state junior high school teachers in Jember. This research was conducted in Jember, and involved 62 state junior high schools and research samples that consisted of 200 civil-servant teachers, by using the proportional random sampling technique. The research data were collected by means of questionnaire, which has the required level of validity and reliability. The selected data analysis was Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) on AMOS 04 program. In accordance with the hypothesis verification, it can be summed up that there was a direct and positive significant relationship between the following aspects: (1) compensation and job satisfaction as well as work morale of teachers; (2) involvement of teachers in decision-making and school climate as well as job satisfaction; (3) school climate and work morale of teachers; and, (4) job satisfaction and work morale of teachers. In addition, there was a direct but insignificant relationship between the followings: (1) compensation and involvement of teachers in decision-making as well as school climate; (2) school climate and job satisfaction; (3) involvement of teachers in decision-making and work morale of teachers.
