PENGARUH STRATEGI PENGAJARAN TIMBAL BALIK (RECIPROCAL TEACHING) TERHADAP PRESTASI BELAJAR KIMIA DAN RESPON TERHADAP PEMBELAJARAN SISWA KELAS X SMAN 2 MALANG

Abstract


Abstract: The aim of the research was to find out the different achievements  between  students who were taught using the reciprocal teaching and the learning together model on the topic of  petroleum, and to find out the students’ response toward the reciprocal teaching model. The research was using the quasi experimental design applying  the simple random sampling  to get the  X.8 class as the control group,  and  the X.7 class as the experimental group. The research instruments used were the achievement test which consist of the pre test and post test, the students’ activity observation sheet which consist of  individual activity and group activity observation sheet, and questionnaire, as well as the observation sheet on the students’. The different achievement between the control group and the experimental  group was found out by analyzing the data using the independent t-test. Based on the data analysis it was found that the   thitung = 2,32 and the ttabel = 1,99, because the  thitung > ttabel , it meant  that  there was a difference in  achievement between the students who were taught using the reciprocal teaching and the students who were taught using the learning together model (mean score of the post test of the experimental group= 72,04 while the control group=65,34). The findings of the reciprocal students’ response questionnaire analysis,  were as the following  the  percentage of each indicator: 79,83% of the students responded positively upon the reciprocal teaching. The research findings showed that the reciprocal teaching  could increase the students’ achievement and the students’ positive response, therefore it was suggested that teachers use reciprocal teaching in teaching other topics in chemistry.

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan prestasi belajar siswa yang diajar menggunakan strategi pengajaran timbal balik (reciprocal teaching) dengan yang diajar menggunakan pembelajaran kelompok belajar biasa pada pokok bahasan minyak bumi dan petroleum dan untuk mengetahui respon siswa terhadap pembelajaran reciprocal. Rancangan penelitian yang digunakan adalah rancangan eksperimental semu (quasi experimental designs) dengan menggunakan teknik sampling acak sederhana (simple random sampling) dengan kelas X.8 sebagai kelas kontrol dan kelas X.7 sebagai kelas eksperimen. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan meliputi tes prestasi belajar, soal pretes dan soal postes, lembar observasi keaktifan siswa dan keaktifan kelompok, dan angket. Perbedaan prestasi belajar siswa kedua kelas diketahui dengan menganalisis data menggunakan uji-t independent. Hasil penelitian diperoleh thitung = 2,32 dan ttabel = 1,99 sehingga thitung > ttabel , artinya ada perbedaan antara prestasi belajar siswa kelas eksperimen dengan prestasi belajar siswa kelas kontrol (rata-rata skor post tes siswa kelas eksperimen = 72,04, sementara kelas kontrol = 65, 34). Berdasarkan hasil pengolahan angket respon siswa terhadap penggunaan strategi pengajaran timbal balik (reciprocal teaching) menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata persentase dari setiap indikator diperoleh sebanyak 79,83% siswa merespon secara positif strategi pengajaran timbal-balik (reciprocal teaching). Dari hasil penelitian tersebut menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran menggunakan strategi pengajaran timbal balik dapat meningkatkan prestasi belajar dan respon positip siswa sehingga disarankan untuk diterapkan dalam pembelajaran dikelas sebagai variasi guru mengajar, terutama untuk materi-materi yang bersifat teori atau berupa wacana.
