Peranan Ibu dalam Pendidikan Anak

Abstract


The purpose of this study was to explore the role of the mothers in implementing family education for their children. This research was held in an urban district and a rural district in Surabaya. Data were collected from 118 mothers in urban families and 148 mothers in rural families by observations and interviews, and then analysed qualitatively. It was concluded that most mothers in the city have had understanding about education, the significance of education, and the type of education. Educational facilities and methods they applied were good enough, but only 41% of them have gotten formal information on education. They communicated with the schools only in relation with the academic achievements of their children. The condition of the family education in the rural was lower than in the urban district in all of these aspects
