Pengaruh Pembelajaran Diskusi Kelas menggunakan Isu Sosiosains terhadap Literasi Sains Mahasiswa Baru pada Kemampuan Akademik Berbeda

Abstract


Abstract: This study aims to determine the effect of class discussion with sosioscientific issue, difference in academic ability, and their interaction toward biology students’ science literacy in Universitas Negeri Malang. This study use a quasi experimental approach with pretest-posttest non-equivalent control group design. The subject consist of two high and low academic ability classes. The research data were collected using scientific literacy test. Scientific literacy data were analyzed using ANACOVA with 5% significant level. The result showed that the classroom discussion with socioscientific issue had significant effect in increasing students’ science literacy and potentially increasing the science literacy of low academic ability student in line with the high academic student.

 Abstrak: Pembelajaran biologi perlu difokuskan untuk memberdayakan literasi sains melalui integrasi isu sosiosains agar dihasilkan individu yang mampu merespon berbagai bentuk perkembangan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh strategi pembelajaran, kemampuan akademik, dan interaksi keduanya terhadap literasi sains mahasiswa program sarjana biologi dan pendidikan biologi Universitas Negeri Malang. Jenis penelitian berupa penelitian semu eksperimen dengan rancangan non equivalent control group design. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari masing-masing 2 kelas berkemampuan akademik tinggi dan rendah. Data yang dikumpulkan berupa nilai tes literasi sains yang dianalisis dengan menggunakan ANACOVA dengan taraf signifikansi 5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa strategi pembelajaran, kemampuan akademik, dan interaksi keduanya berpengaruh signifikan terhadap literasi sains mahasiswa.
