Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to analyze the errors of VIIC SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Malang field independent students in solving social arithmetic problems based on Fong’s schematic model and its scaffolding. Two subjects were selected after they did GEFT and social arithmetic tests. The results of this study show thatthe independent field students' errors are incomplete schema without any errors (E3), incomplete schema with errors (E4), and complete schema with errors (E5). The level 2 errors that were made in E4 and E5 are operational and psychological errors. The scaffolding that were used in overcoming those errors are reviewing and restructuring.
